WHAT WOULD BE THE PROBLEM IF SHERLOCK AND JOHN WERE A COUPLE IN BBCVERSE?
Can we really think about this question for a bit?
Good, if you thought properly, the correct answer is: There would be no problem.
THIS THIS THIS!!!
FINALLY…SOMEONE FUCKING SAID IT, AND DID IT GOOOOOOD
THANK YOU <33333333
YES! THANK YOU! And I think that one of the biggest reasons why they haven’t become an item yet IS because they’re two men. Many people in today’s showbiz claim that they’re all for equality for homosexuals but when it comes to their TV-show and movies they don’t dare to take that final step and include a homosexual couple because they’re most likely afraid of loosing viewers. Well I say fuck that shit, if some people don’t want to be a fan of something because there’s people in it who’s not heterosexual then they shouldn’t want those people to be fans of their show/movie. I think that a pattern has been created during the last decade, many TV-shows and movies can FLIRT with the idea of homosexuality but they never dare to take that final step (and if they do they’re almost never the main character and you never get to see any “action”, as in kissing or anything “more” than that, THAT’S why I want a Deadpool movie, YAY! Pansexual pride!). Just look at Sherlock, Supernatural and Star Trek, where they make a lot of “gay jokes”, “jokes” as in, other people thinking they’re a couple (WHEN THEY’RE CLEARLY NOOOT!!!!!!(NOTE: SARCASM!)), and we are supposed to laugh at it, because “HOW SILLY THAT THAT PERSON THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE AN ITEM WHEN THEY’RE JUST SITTING THERE
AND PRACTICALLY DROOLING ALL OVER EACH OTHER, THEY ARE CLEARLY NOT AN ITEM WHERE DID THAT PERON GET THAT IDEA!?!? HAHAHA!”.
They also include a lot of *gazing into each other’s eyes longingly*, “unnecessary” touching, reactions to different situations that “just friends”-friends wouldn’t react the same to, stuff that would “trigger” the viewer to thinking: “oh so this character isn’t entirely straight, interesting I wonder how they will take this dynamic couple and develop it into something else!*excited that a queer character has finally come along*”, and then we get shot down by the writers: “Haha NO, they’re not gay! Where did you get that idea!? How silly of you!”, wow, thank you writers… And sure BBC Sherlock has that couple who owns the inn near Baskerville, but they had very little screen time and it was only implied that they were an item. And sure they have Irene Adler but I sometimes feel that shows/movies more often includes lesbians than gays because of some unfathomable reason (SEE SUPERNATURAL. I.E. Charlie). It’s like they think that it’s easier and more enjoyable to see a woman lusting after another woman than see a man lusting after another man, because the first alternative often goes home with guys who don’t like homosexuals but enjoy watching some girl on girl action because “THAT’S FRIKKIN’ HOT, DAAAMN!”. And don’t get me wrong I’m really glad that more lesbians are being included in the media but I would like for it to be a bit more equal.
But I hope that Mofftis is playing a clever game with us here. I hope more than everything that they actually ARE planning to make Sherlock and John an item, that they planned it from the beginning, but they just didn’t want it to happen right from the beginning and not just yet. Because they don’t want the show to be JUST ABOUT THAT. If you know what I mean. Because in many shows and movies I’ve seen where they include a homosexual person, you never really get to KNOW the person, it’s like the writer has decided that this person’s sexuality is everything there is to them. You don’t need to know anything else, that’s it, they’re gay.
So I hope that we are finally getting a TV-show where to men happens to fall in love with each other and that’s OK, and then we move on, they still solve their cases together and order take-out because neither of them can be arsed to cook. And Sherlock drives John around the bend sometimes with his experiments and disorder in the apartment, they still live together and they’re still best friends and soul mates, they just happen to be together as well. I think that would be absolutely amazing.
Okay, let me explain to you a thing: John and Sherlock are soulmates. Whether that means romantically, platonically, sexually, emotionally, mentally, physically, what-the-fuck-ever. They complete each other. And they need each other and they are two people that are meant to be together, in one way or another. And they are soulmates. Bye.
Because of your timely warning when you drew our attention to the empty tobacco jar, and save the life of my dear friend and colleague, Dr John H. Watson. Hereby enabling us to continue our long and happy association together. (Said Holmes to Alastair, The House of Fear, 1945)

The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton by Arthur Conan Doyle
Oh how I love canon.
Made rebloggable by request.
Honestly, people just need to stop overshipping.
Interesting fact: No, they don’t.
People can ship just as much as they want, and who they want. They can ship a completely non-canon pairing, and ship it to the ends of the earth. Or, they can ship nothing. They can write fanfiction, or draw fanart, or they can write analytic essays detailing points within a canon, to justify why they ship what they ship. People can disagree with what is considered canon, and they can find subtext in places where there is none. They can discuss, joke, tease, laugh, and argue their ships with other like minded people.
But do you know what people do just need to stop doing? Sending hateful anonymous messages about things that have no effect on them in any way, shape, or form. And this goes for each end of the shipping spectrum. I don’t go into someone’s ask box, berating them for not shipping something. What right do they have, coming into mine, doing the same thing because I do?
This one here? Is possibly the most polite ‘hate anon’ I’ve ever received about johnlock. Most get deleted, because I don’t like to subject my followers to homophobic slurs and bigotry.
This is glorious
This is brilliant, thank you for writing this!
